Unfortunately for Draymond Green and the Warriors, Dillon Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies had the last laugh on Thursday night.
Memphis handed Golden State an ugly 131-110 loss on FedExForum, the Warriors’ third consecutive loss and the Grizzlies’ first this this 2022-23 NBA season. There is usually no lack of excitement in matchups between these two teams and Thursday night was no different.
After Brooks berated Green in an interview with ESPN last week, the Warriors forward issued a brutal response to the latest episode of his podcast, calling Brooks a “clown” and an “idiot,” among other things.
Speaking to TNT’s Jared Greenberg on the field after the game, Brooks was asked what his message to Draymond was after the two ran into each other in the second quarter.
“That’s what I do, I talk,” Brooks said. “I told him to keep that mic open. Keep doing his podcast, keep blogging, keep doing his thing off the field. You know it’s cute, it’s fun for him.”
Greenberg ended his interview with Brooks by acknowledging his “impressive performance” against the Warriors, to which the Grizzlies forward left the field with a final message for Green.
“Thank you. Appreciate it. Appreciate it,” Brooks added. “You should give the mic to Draymond and he’ll talk about me… Let him keep talking about me so I can play better.”
Brooks finished the game with 14 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the field and 1-of-7 from 3-point range.

The 27-year-old became a villain in the eyes of the Warriors and Dub Nation after a foul play that injured Gary Payton II in the Western Conference semifinals last season and seems to have embraced the role ever since.
Green and the Warriors will have a chance for revenge in nine days when the two teams face each other for the last time of the regular season.
